Local Vets Hear Iraq Strategy Presentation

Newburgh, New York – Dr. David R. Leffler gave a presentation to Veterans of the American Merchant Marines on a scientific method for ending the war in Iraq at a June 28 meeting in Newburgh. The monthly luncheon of the Gene de-Long-Hudson Valley Chapter of the American Merchant Marine Veterans was held at the Youngest Brother Italian Restaurant. Dr. Leffler, a resident of Dutchess county and Acting Director of the Center for Advanced Military Science, gave a lecture on using the field effects of consciousness to end war.

“War is a cycle,” explained Dr. Leffler. “Social stress builds, resulting in enemies. This leads to war. Then the military intervenes, but too late. Military conflict creates more social stress, sewing the seeds for the next war.”

Invincible Defense Technology addresses social stress earlier in the cycle. Large group practice of the Transcendental Meditation (TM) program, and its more advanced programs, has been scientifically proven to reduce social stress. Indicators include: reduced conflict, reduced injuries, lower crime rate, and lower levels of stress hormones. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi introduced Transcendental Meditation 50 years ago. These programs are based on ancient Vedic knowledge from India.

Dr. Leffler explained how TM creates a “field effect.” More than 500 research studies have been conducted on Transcendental Meditation. Dr. Kenneth Walton, a university biochemist in Iowa, studied how TM affects brain chemistry, especially serotonin. Low serotonin levels are associated with violent, criminal behavior. TM naturally increases serotonin in individual practitioners. But it does not stop there. Non-meditating individuals living in the same area as TM practitioners experienced increased serotonin levels. Leffler and others hypothesize that consciousness is a field, similar to the fields around magnets that attract or repel within a certain distance. The field of consciousness is made more coherent by the practice of the Transcendental Meditation program, resulting in increased serotonin levels in everyone, and overall increased societal coherence.

A study in the Journal of Offender Rehabilitation reported that group practice of the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi programs by 7,000 people decreased terrorism and international conflicts worldwide.

The lecture was followed by a lively question and answer session. Tom Schiesel, Correspondence Secretary of the Gene de-Long-Hudson Valley Chapter of the American Merchant Marine Veterans, called the talk “thought provoking.” “It was not an easy subject but [Dr. Leffler] maintained the attention of the group and inspired several questions and comments. We enjoyed the stimulating topic and his presentation,” said Schiesel.
