Creating Stability in Nepal: A New Military Approach Using Ancient Vedic Technologies

As former Home Minister I have a unique perspective on the current problems facing Nepal, especially in the current political stalemate that has crippled our country. There is a pervasive lack of harmony and coherence from which no progress seems possible. In our military, however, we have order, chain of command, and coherence that can be used in an unconventional and non-confrontational way to the benefit of Nepal. Our military troops stand ready to follow the orders of their superiors. If the commanders think and plan clearly for the well-being of the nation, the troops will follow.

During the last 25 years, a powerful, innovative approach to national defense and international peace has been extensively field tested – in the Middle East and throughout the world. It is a direct technological application of the most advanced discoveries in the fields of quantum mechanics, neuroscience, and human consciousness. The consistent result of its implementation has been dramatic reductions in terrorism, war, and other social violence. These findings have been replicated, published in leading academic journals, and endorsed by hundreds of independent scientists and scholars. The efficacy of this approach is now beyond question.

These studies verify that the scientific knowledge and technologies are now available to end terrorism and conflict, to achieve indomitable national strength and security, and to create permanent world peace. By implementing these technologies, which are a modern application of ancient Vedic technologies of consciousness, every government can secure the peace and safety of its citizens. But the time to act is now.

For the entire recorded history of Nepal, our nation has remained independent. Even when our giant to the south, India, was completely colonized by the British, Nepal remained a free nation. In those days the people of Nepal followed all Vedic rules and regulations, with traditional Vedic performances creating a shield of invincibility called rashtriya kavach for their country. Now, once again, we can harness these ancient technologies to bring coherence to our nation. True invincibility ultimately can only be achieved when enemies become friends and future enemies can be prevented from arising.

These non-religious Vedic technologies of consciousness have been successfully applied by members of many faiths worldwide to produce societal coherence and eliminate conflict. For instance, the approach was field-tested by the militaries of Mozambique and Ecuador, and now four countries in Latin America in Latin America are deploying it via “Prevention Wings of the Military”- large groups of soldiers who have been trained in these Vedic technologies of consciousness, including the Transcendental Meditation (TM) and TM-Sidhi program. When used in a military context, these Vedic meditation practices are known as Invincible Defence Technology (IDT). If the military of Nepal were to apply these non-lethal and non-destructive technologies, it could reduce the collective societal stress that is ultimately responsible for our incoherent government.

I am now the Chairman of the Nepal Maharishi Vedic Foundation. For over one year we have been harnessing this scientifically verified and time-honored and tested tradition of Vedic Science to bring coherence, harmony, and invincibility to the nation. We teach the Transcendental Meditation (TM) program to bring peace to individuals and the nation as a whole. In addition we are employing Vedic Brahmin Pandits to perform Yagya daily at our Center with the stated intention (Sankalpa) to bring perpetual peace and invincibility to Nepal.

Can the military of Nepal have a hand in this? Yes, it most certainly can! Our soldiers could practice the TM technique and its advanced TM-Sidhi program in a large group each day. Extensive scientific research has shown repeatedly that the establishment of large national groups of peace-creating experts practicing the TM-Sidhi program, as revived and taught by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, can neutralize acute ethnic, political, and religious tensions that fuel violence, terrorism, and social conflict. By defusing tensions and neutralizing animosity, this field-tested approach will immediately create a fertile environment in which diplomatic and other conventional approaches to peace can actually succeed.

On the individual level, IDT will help our warriors to become more effective and efficient in carrying out their military duties and responsibilities (see Part I of “Supreme Military Science: Myth or Reality?” published by India Defence Consultants). But more importantly, in their collective role as protectors of our great nation, they could be practicing IDT in a large group, thereby creating desperately needed social coherence that in turn would give rise to harmony and peace for Nepal. Our military commanders need only introduce a little of our cherished Vedic Technology to yield great results both for their soldiers and our nation.

Creating societal coherence through Vedic Technology is not a fantasy but a scientifically validated reality. Over 50 research studies confirm that when the required threshold of IDT experts is crossed – approximately the square root of 1% of a given population – crime goes down, quality of life indices go up, and war and terrorism abate. For instance, in 1993, a two-month intervention study of this collective stress-reducing approach was implemented and studied in Washington, D.C. Predictions of specific drops in crime and other indices were lodged in advance with government leaders and newspapers. The research protocol was approved by an independent Project Review Board. The findings showed that public approval of the U.S. president suddenly changed from a negative trend to a positive trend, as predicted (p<.00002). (If IDT were to be used in Nepal, a similar positive change would likely occur for our current president Dr. Ram Baran Yadav.) Crime fell 24 percent below the predicted level when the peace-creating group reached its maximum size. Temperature, weekend effects, or previous trends in the data failed to account for these changes. This research was published in the peer-reviewed Social Indicators Research (1999, vol. 47, 153-201).

Collective stress reduction was also documented on a global scale in a study using Rand Corporation data and published in the Journal of Offender Rehabilitation (2003, vol. 36, 283-302). When assemblies of IDT experts exceeded the critical threshold for the world (about 7,000 at that time) during the years 1983-1985, terrorism globally decreased 72%, international conflict decreased 32%, and violence in nations was reduced without intrusion by other governments.

How might these profound effects on society be explained? IDT’s causal mechanism is not completely understood. The mechanism has been postulated to be a field effect of consciousness – a spillover effect on the level of the unified field from the peace-creating group into the larger population. An explanation of the causality of IDT in biological terms was proposed in a study in the Journal of Social Behavior and Personality (Walton et al. 2005, 17: 339-373). Serotonin, a powerful neurotransmitter, has been shown to produce feelings of happiness, contentment, and even euphoria. Research indicates that low levels of serotonin correlate with aggression, poor emotional moods, and violence. The study indicated that when the size of a group of IDT experts changed, serotonin production of people in the nearby community changed correspondingly. Since results were statistically significant, this study offers a plausible neurophysiologic mechanism that may explain reduced aggression and hostility in a whole society.

An increase in serotonin activity and a decrease in cortisol appear to be byproducts of the direct experience of a fourth major state of consciousness, known as transcendental consciousness, in individual TM practitioners. This experience, physiologically distinct from waking, sleeping, and dreaming, is correlated with global EEG coherence throughout the brain, profound rest for the body, and the direct subjective experience of pure consciousness, the unified field at the basis of all laws of nature. The Transcendental Meditation practice is a systematic technology to turn human awareness effortlessly within to experience and explore finer levels of mental activity. The experience of these deeper levels of human intelligence corresponds to the experience of deeper levels of intelligence in nature. This inward exploration of consciousness culminates in the direct experience of the deepest level of consciousness – the simplest, silent, settled state of human awareness, sometimes called the state of pure consciousness, in which the human mind identifies with the unified field of all the laws of nature – the field of unity at the basis of mind and matter. By enlivening the unified field, this experience of transcendental consciousness generates an influence of coherence on the level of the unified field, thereby creating harmony and peace throughout society, as extensive research has confirmed. IDT appears to operate from this fundamental level of nature’s functioning.

However, the leaders of Nepal should not wait until scientists know for certain how IDT works before making use of this scientifically field-tested approach to peace. The value of technology is in its practical applications. We may not know how electricity works, but we can still turn on a light switch and enjoy the benefits. Likewise, we can use the Vedic technologies of consciousness now to protect Nepal during the present dangerous time of instability. The high degree of collective societal stress in Nepal, which fuels the pervasive lack of harmony and coherence in the current political climate, not only severely cripples our country but also leaves us in a weakened state where potential adversaries might be tempted to take advantage of our precarious situation. So in reality, collective stress in Nepal is our most dangerous enemy. The military of Nepal is charged with the responsibility to defend the country from all enemies foreign and domestic. As part of its responsibility to protect our nation, it is obligated to thoroughly examine realistic, scientifically proven methods to defend our great country. The military of Nepal can now succeed in this mission simply by creating and maintaining a Prevention Wing of the Military of about 650 Invincible Defense Technology (IDT) experts. Moreover, since the military and military personnel are funded by the government, a Prevention Wing of the Military would not be subject to the fluctuations in size that often affect civilian IDT groups, where participation may be influenced by finances, job demands, graduations, and optional activities.

Nepalese army Lieutenant Colonel Jitendra Jung Karki has already explained how Nepal could benefit from Invincible Defense Technology in his 2008 groundbreaking article “Invincible Nepal: An Ancient Vedic Technology for Modern Security Challenges of Nepal” published in the Nepalese military periodical Shreenath Journal. It describes how all areas of society will be simultaneously enriched by this holistically life-supporting, life-benefiting technology. IDT is enormously effective and cost-effective, and the results are immediate. All that is necessary is to provide the proper training for a group of military personnel – or indeed any large group within the country. Nepal has the opportunity today through IDT to create a coherent government, national security, invincibility, and lasting peace.
