New Technology for Peace
Revealed in Hiroshima

World renowned physicists offer government leaders a “new generation of scientific knowledge” to safeguard civilization from the horrors of war Enthusiastic response from Japanese leaders

Scientists form new global alliance for peace (HIROSHIMA, JAPAN): As the world again begins to think the unthinkable-the possibility of nuclear conflagration-two world renowned quantum physicists, speaking in Hiroshima, a city ravaged by the atomic bomb, offered government leaders throughout the world a practical formula to safeguard civilization from weapons of mass destruction.

Dr. John Hagelin, Minister of Science and Technology of the Global Country of World Peace, and Dr. Volker Schanbacher, Minister of World Peace, delivered the keynote addresses at an historic “International Symposium on World Peace” hosted by the Government of Hiroshima on April 6.

“Sixty years ago, Albert Einstein brought to the attention of President Roosevelt the scientific knowledge of the nuclear force, whose vast destructive power was unleashed on the citizens of Hiroshima. Since that time, the whole world has lived under constant threat of nuclear holocaust,” said Dr. Hagelin, who was introduced by the President of the University of Hiroshima, Dr. Muta, himself a prominent quantum physicist in Japan, as “possibly the world’s foremost unified field theorist, whose work I have followed very closely.”

A New Generation of Knowledge

“Today, in this very city, where the memory of the horrors of nuclear conflagration looms large, a new generation of scientists are bringing a new generation of knowledge-the scientific knowledge of the unified field, which will safeguard civilization against the destructive power of all prior, barbaric technologies based upon partial knowledge of Natural Law,” Dr. Hagelin said.

Dr. Hagelin presented the discovery of the “unified field” by modern physics, and its fundamental identity to the field of “pure consciousness” at the foundation of human experience as described by the Vedic Science of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. He then explained the mechanics of the “Maharishi Effect”-the long-range, field effects of consciousness generated by group practice of the Vedic technologies of Transcendental Meditation and its advanced techniques-together with scientific research showing dramatic reductions in war and global terrorism.

Dr. Schanbacher followed with an elaboration of the mechanics of the Maharishi Effect, using principles of quantum physics, and citing practical examples where the Maharishi Effect has been applied by governments to solve intractable problems, such as civil war, and to positively transform their nations.

Enthusiastic Response

Response to the scientists’ presentation was immediate and enthusiastic. Messages of congratulations poured in from Cabinet Ministers, Members of Parliament, and mayors all across Japan. Thirteen members of Parliament held follow-up meetings with Dr. Hagelin and Dr. Schanbacher, along with Dr. Keith Wallace, Minister of Research and Development, and Dr. Shizuo Suzuki, Minister of Expansion.

The scientists proposed during these meetings that a special “prevention wing” within the Self Defense Force of Japan be trained in the proven, peace-promoting technologies of Maharishi’s Vedic Science. Japan’s Self-Defense Force, comprising 260,000 troops, is constitutionally forbidden from engaging in military offensives, but until now, has lacked any truly defensive technology that could enable it to defend the nation.

“These truly defensive, non-destructive, scientifically proven Vedic technologies of peace will not only secure the safety, security and invincibility of Japan, but will make Japan a light-house of peace and coherence for the whole world,” Dr. Hagelin explained.

“Global Association of Scientists for Peace”

At the culmination of the Hiroshima symposium, Dr. Hagelin and Dr. Schanbacher announced the formation of a worldwide alliance of scientists called the “Global Association of Scientists for Peace.”

“It is of vital importance to the future of our world that this global association of leading scientists is bringing the knowledge of Total Natural Law-the unified field-to prevent a recurrence of the devastation that befell this city, and to create a new world order of affluence and peace,” Dr. Hagelin said.

Supreme Military Science: Myth or Reality?

Supreme Military Might

An IDC Analysis

Recently we had an E-Mail from Dr David Leffler who sent us an updated version of his thesis on ‘Supreme Military Science’. We have great pleasure, in the New Year, to bring you the updated version –– post 9 /11 –– of the earlier philosophical piece. Written by learned scholars with a desire to propagate the message of peace and to reign in terrorism and all other Military ills by the route of Meditation –– especially the method made famous by Maharishiji. The articles may be viewed as shown below:

1. Supreme Military Science 1

2. Supreme Military Science 2

3. Supreme Military Science 3

IDC fully advocates that it is the mind that controls humans and it is the collective mind that controls groups or nations. Money, Relationships and Religion also enter the matrix of military equations. In modern times land battles appear to be confined to causes in the third world –– like Kashmir and in South Africa. The advanced world has reached maturity by leaving borders alone and Europe has adopted a common currency the EURO which seems a success, so money battles are being reduced in Europe. However, USA may react with the dollar but mainly in commercial battles.

We at IDC believe that human nature has not changed and religion still holds fervour. The Muslims feel strongly as they are under privileged and have resorted to the heinous crimes of terror — which is the plague sweeping the world. IDC has written extensively on the Cornelli Barnett theory of Defence Spending and in these times of force multipliers and software it is not reducing.

We now wish to focus on Fredrick Nitzse’s work. To understand the articles we recommend that every military man must read Nitzse, the philosopher who advocated that SOME GROUP MADNESS will always grip the world. Let us say Nazism, which exterminated Jews was a madness, Communism which suppressed so many was another madness. In India a mild madness –– Hindutva has surfaced, in Israel the right to deny some Palestinians their rights is present and in general there will always be madness. Hence we can curb militarism but never completely and only the form will be different. TERRORISM is a current madness, which we will have to live with till another madness or ism surfaces.

Samuel Huntington called this the Clash of Civilisations and since he like our writers in the pieces above have Harvard credentials we will not argue. IDC does however recommend YOGA and the ancient Indian way of meditation to all our viewers and as our writers come from the school of Divinity and we at IDC are Staff College trained, we agree to disagree –– but the military minds will enjoy the articles as they contribute to reducing the madness of Military minds and curbing Muslim fundamentalism which is the present cause of terrorism.

Despite being the land of Yoga and Ahimsa (non-violence) Indian leaders still talk of war with Pakistan, which IDC has discounted but then Madness in militarism is a possibility in all lands!

Extract of Dr Leffler’s E-Mail

“Dear IDC,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for providing an excellent forum for debate and analysis. IDC published works about invincible defence. You were brave trailblazers to publish these revolutionary works. We greatly appreciate that you kept an open mind toward your commitment of improving India’s defence. However, IDC has done much more than that. As you know, the Internet is global. Due to your fine website, people have read our articles from many other countries as well.

Since you published these works important new developments have taken place. Perhaps you will also agree that they should be addressed, especially in light of the terrorist attacks of September 11.

For this reason, we have added some links to the revised works. In particular, one of the links goes to a new on-line video entitled “How to Effectively Eliminate the Root Cause of Terrorism and War.” This video features Major General Singh (Ret.), a 35-year career Indian army veteran and leading terrorism expert with John Hagelin Ph.D., a Harvard trained award-winning quantum physicist, speaking recently on APTV throughout the USA. We urge you and your colleagues to listen to this video.

As you know, this is a most dangerous time for India, as well as the whole world. More terrorist attacks are likely to take place. Perhaps, the right person might read our article as well as the related linked works and take quick action. Such action could save many lives. For this reason, we would be most grateful if you could post the revised version of the articles as soon as possible.

Thanks again!

Sincerely,

Dr. David Leffler”

New Invincible Defense Trend in India? Ending War – Indian Strategic Review

New Invincible Defense Trend in India?
Ending War and Political Violence

Practically no citizen of India needs to be persuaded of the benefits of preventing war and political violence. Conflict in any country inevitably spills unrest and its related problems unto its neighbours, with negative consequences. Due to the easy availability of weapons of mass destruction, future political unrest could be worse. Defending against these weapons is extremely difficult, if not impossible. Thus, war and political violence must be addressed at their root cause: collective social stress.

A group of retired Indian military leaders are trying to prevent war by reducing collective social stress. This group includes Major General Kulwant Singh, Major General D.D. Ghoshal, Major General K.K. Ganguly, Major General G.K. Sahney, Major General G.H. Israni, and Colonel S.P. Bakshi. They are the directors charged with the responsibility for deploying an ancient invincible defence strategy in India in the near future. These proponents of this novel strategy — Consciousness-Based defence — say that it will prevent war and political violence at home and on India’s borders.

Mozambique was the first country to try this approach. Following decades of war, the governmental leaders, including President Joaquim Alberto Chissano wanted an extra boost to maintain a delicate peace in 1992. Even though the UN was on the way, they decided to employ Consciousness-Based defence. The Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces of Mozambique assigned an additional duty to several military units of Ground, Naval and Air Forces. That duty was to practise a simple mental technique.

Before implementing the technique, the Joint Chiefs of Staff carefully studied extensive research on Consciousness-Based defence. Using consciousness to prevent war was a radical idea, but Mozambique was drained from war and desperate for peace. The military units’ new duty was to practise the Transcendental Meditation programme in groups twice daily. Their Commander-in-Chief, President Chissano, as well as other high-ranking leaders, practised the Transcendental Meditation technique themselves.

The Transcendental Meditation technique is a simple, easily learned, non-religious meditation practise. Physicist and Vedic scholar Maharishi Mahesh Yogi revived the Transcendental Meditation programme from India’s ancient Vedic tradition. Over 600 scientific studies have been conducted on this technique and its related programmes. Transcendental Meditation has been proven to eliminate stress individually and collectively. Mozambique adopted it, and the advanced TM-Sidhi programme, to prevent the return of war, improve its economy and cut the crime rate.

Soon, positive trends were observed. Crime decreased substantially. Lt. General Tobias Dai, then Commander of the Mozambique Armed Forces (now the Defence Minister), said, “When thousands of people were taught in Maputo, it was possible to assess a decrease of 20% in the crime index during the first quarter of 1993. This situation was totally anomalous, because, at the end of the war, an increase of crime would be expected.” This trend was repeated in other areas. “The same thing (crime decrease of 20%) happened in the city of Quelimane and the province of Manica,” said Dai.

As part of the peace agreement, the military began to demobilize. Groups of meditators disbanded and the positive trends reversed. Dai said, “What is very clear is that once the positive effect is created, if group practise is stopped, the previous tendencies of higher collective stress, as determined from the crime indexes and the tense situations in the country, began to rise again. In 1994, there was a remarkable decrease in coherence in the country as a result of decreased participation in the group practise of the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi Programme…” New groups of meditators, although smaller, were formed because Mozambique was tired of war.

Over the decades, Mozambique has been devastated by problems that started in 1964, when it sought independence from Portugal. Even after independence was achieved in 1975, civil and border conflicts ensued. Massacres, drought, and famine plagued the populace.

The population often lived in a climate of fear. In 1986, armed forces from one of Mozambique’s factions were expelled from the neighboring country of Malawi. As these fighters poured into northern Mozambique, tens of thousands of Mozambican refugees flooded Malawi to escape violence. The next year, large numbers of Mozambicans were massacred. The country was brought to the verge of collapse.

Mozambique is a prime example of how fear is a driving force in the current defence paradigm. This fear-based model applies to factions within countries, as well as conflict between countries. As in other countries, Mozambique’s conflicts dragged on for years, inciting fear in the population. Often, unrest affects neighboring countries, spreading violence. For instance, the South African Defence Force raided Mozambique in 1981.

Fear of attack causes countries and factions to build up arms. This is a self-reinforcing cycle as other groups are drawn into the fray. While the cycle of arms build-up makes arms dealers rich, it drains resources that might be better spent on alleviating economic, social, and environmental problems.

Historically, peace-making and peace-keeping forces are usually ineffective at stopping civil and interstate war. The prospects of stopping a large-scale war are dim. Lt. General Dai said, “The proposed future UNO (United Nations Organization) mission…was not a guarantee of the maintenance of peace — as has been seen in many countries in the world.” Mozambique’s strong desire for permanent peace was a significant factor in choosing Consciousness-Based defence. Mozambique was the only country to try Consciousness-Based defence in the 1900’s. It also had “the only successful UNO mission in the world,” said Dai.

Extensive research indicates that only one percent of a population practicing the TM technique results in a coherent society. Fewer practitioners of the more advanced TM-Sidhi programme seem to be needed to create the same effect — just the square root of one percent of the population.

Over fifty studies have been conducted in the last 25 years. Peer-reviewed publications, such as Journal of Conflict Resolution, Social Indicators Research, Journal of Crime and Justice, Journal of Mind and Behavior and International Journal of Neuroscience, are among the respected scientific journals that have published studies on the social coherence-creating effects of the TM and TM-Sidhi programme. The changes include: reductions in war deaths, improvements in economic conditions, enhanced quality of life, and reductions in crime, violence, accidents, and illness.

President Chissano asserts that creating peace with Consciousness-Based defence requires a shift in consciousness. “The culture of war has to be replaced by the culture of peace,” says Chissano. “For that purpose, something deeper has to be changed in our minds and in our consciousness to prevent the recurrence of war.” He urges other countries to adopt Consciousness-Based defence. Mozambique was the first country to deploy Consciousness-Based defence in the second millennium. In the face of modern dangers, India has the chance to revive its own Vedic heritage by putting Consciousness-Based defence to the ultimate test. Mozambique has lead the first charge. Now India has the opportunity to come full circle and go down in history as the creator of world peace.

Dr. David R. Leffler received his Ph.D. on the topic of Consciousness-Based military defence.

2. The idea is indeed novel. However, it ignores the aspect of the National Interests having an overwhelming influence in the conduct of International relations, in which war is just one of the instruments of National Policy.

Comments Regarding the IDC Analysis of Maharishi’s Supreme Military Science

(IDC published below comments of the authors on their analysis of Maharishi’s Supreme Military Science, published on 13 Jun 2001)
The authors salute India Defence Consultants (IDC) for analyzing Maharishiji’s cutting-edge defence technology. We hope this attention to a novel preventive defence paradigm becomes another “bull’s eye” to IDC’s credit and helps to create an invincible military in India.
We agree with the IDC analysis that militaries must have arms. At least during this dangerous time in human evolution, it would be a most foolish military strategy to abandon weaponry. Another consideration is that the much-quoted warrior and strategist Miyamoto Musashi warned that one “should not have a favourite weapon.” For these reasons, we offer Maharishiji’s human resource-based defence technology as part of a holistic approach to national defense.
In our article we requested only that civilian and defence leaders add a Prevention Wing of the Military. This military unit would practice the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi program as a group. This deployment would be only an addition to conventional military technologies and strategies, not a replacement. In his book “Maharishi’s Absolute Theory of Defence,” Maharishiji proposes that a small percentage, maybe 1-3% of the military, can serve as a “Prevention Wing” of the Military. He asserts that by making the whole collective consciousness of society more coherent, wars can be prevented. This can be accomplished most easily by the military itself. The result will be to prevent an enemy from arising. It is fine to increase defence spending, but India could wisely allocate this small percentage for prevention, and could immediately measure the effects in reduced conflict with its neighbors.
Such a Prevention Wing of the Military could also be deployed to any trouble spot and could carry weapons, right along with their other comrades-in-arms. However, the wing’s primary military duty would be to create societal coherence. In this way, essentially, Maharishiji’s human resource technology would be an additional “weapon.” This weapon should always be present. Research indicates that, at the minimum, the technology could reduce fatalities and enhance chances of success if war should break out. At best, it could prevent armed conflict altogether.
We also agree that, at the present time, arms must be “corralled” or controlled, that is, limited to a small percentage of the GNP. Perhaps, in the future, when every nation has deployed a Prevention Wing of the Military, then civilian and defence leaders might agree that further reductions are warranted.
There is an example in the Indian tradition of Ayodhya where there was peace under the rulership of Sri Ram. Research on over 600 studies on Maharishiji’s TM technique shows that Ayodhya is not a myth, but an attainable reality in our time. Truly, history has painted a dismal picture of the human condition, but this is a new (as well as ancient) beginning of an era. Human conflict has only been inevitable because the human nervous system is full of stress. The normal functioning nervous system is one of great peace, with the great creativity, organizing power, and flexibility to be capable of fulfilling the desires of the individual and society at the same time. The research shows that it is so. Let us not keep dragging the dead cat, just continuing with policies and methods of defence that we know do not work. Let us at least try something new at the same time.
The only thing that can eliminate living in “a Catch 22 situation” and reign in “the bucking horse” is the principle of bringing in a second element–creating coherence in India’s collective consciousness. We urge Indian civilian and defence leaders to open the door to a new era based on their own heritage. Please read and act on the extensive research conducted on Maharishi’s Vedic Technology of Defence. This research shows that India could move forward while enjoying the comfortable ride that this consciousness-based technology could provide.
