Primary treatments for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) such as Prolonged Exposure Therapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy are not proving effective. That’s the conclusion of a recent Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) article calling for new ideas. The reality, the article points out, is that some two-thirds of combat veterans with PTSD are unable to free themselves from PTSD symptoms despite undergoing conventional treatments.

Here is a new idea–actually an old idea that has been around for decades–that works: Transcendental Meditation…

Dr. David Leffler published an article about how the military of Nigeria could use the Transcendental Meditation program and its advanced programs could create lasting peace in Nigeria. This article appeared in the 10 August 2015 issue of Nigerian Eye, Issue No. 60, pages 25-26. For more information about this publication visit: http://www.nigerianeye.com. The article’s introduction reads as follows:

Recently a string of terrorist attacks have occurred as Nigeria has struggled to build a functional and coherent response. Fortunately, there is a science-based approach to create societal coherence that can protect Nigeria from both internal and external threats. It is called Invincible Defense Technology (IDT) because it assures invincibility, peace, and even economic progress, to the nation and the military that employ it.

Victory Before War: Preventing Enemies from Arising

Old defense approach: the military fails to address social stress.
New Invincible Defense Technology approach addresses social stress, thereby ending war, terrorism and violence.

A new technology of defense is now available that has been scientifically shown to prevent war and create peace by harnessing the deepest level of nature’s functioning.

War is ultimately a human problem requiring a human solution. Experts in the field of conflict resolution maintain that the underlying cause of war is accumulated “social stress” – i.e., mounting political, religious and/or ethnic tensions between rival factions in critical hotspots throughout the world. As social stress builds, divisions grow stronger, groups take sides, diplomats become unable to resolve differences, and enemies arise within or outside the nation. Military force may then be invoked to protect the country, resulting in armed conflict and unpredictable outcomes. But even if conflict temporarily solves the problem for the victor, the social stress remains, fueling future cycles of
conflict. In contrast, the absence of collective stress translates into the absence of tension between competing sides, thereby reducing the probability of hostilities.

Today, the militaries of the Middle East have an opportunity to overcome the cycle of war by deploying a scientifically verified technology of defense that neutralizes social stress. This new technology is based on the unified field of all the laws of nature – the most fundamental and powerful level of nature’s functioning. The technology accesses and enlivens this unified field through subjective technologies of consciousness, thereby creating a profound influence of coherence and harmony throughout society that results in measurable reductions of crime, terrorism, and war.

The late Maharishi Mahesh Yogi revived systematic subjective technologies for experiencing the unified field, including the Transcendental Meditation® program and its advanced techniques. When used in a military context these meditation practices are known as Invincible Defense Technology (IDT). They have been successfully applied by members of many faiths to eliminate conflict. If any military in the Middle East region were to properly apply these non-lethal and non-destructive technologies, it could reduce collective societal stress and resulting conflict.

Over 50 research studies confirm that when the required threshold of IDT experts is crossed – approximately the square root of 1 percent of a given population – crime goes down, quality of life indices go up, and war and terrorism abate. Scientists have named this phenomenon the Maharishi Effect, since Maharishi Mahesh Yogi first predicted it. The causal mechanism appears to be a field effect of consciousness – a spillover effect on the level of the unified field from the peace-creating group into the larger population. In 1983, a two-month Maharishi Effect intervention in Israel resulted in a 76 percent reduction in war deaths in neighboring Lebanon when group size exceeded the square root of 1 percent threshold (Journal of Conflict Resolution). Seven subsequent, consecutive experiments over a two-year period during the peak of the Lebanon war found:

Military personnel in Latin America, Africa and Asia practice group Transcendental Meditation to help maintain cultural integrity and protect their nations

• war-related fatalities decreased by 71 percent;
• war-related injuries fell by 68 percent;
• the level of conflict dropped by 48 percent;
• cooperation among antagonists increased by 66 percent.

The likelihood that these combined results were due to chance is less than one part in 10 to the 19th power (Journal of Social Behavior and Personality and Journal of Scientific Exploration). A global-scale study published in the Journal of Offender Rehabilitation documented a 72 percent drop in international terrorism.

Militaries are responsible for defending their citizens. They can now succeed in this mission simply by creating a Prevention Wing – a group of IDT experts. The size of the Prevention Wing would be small – approximately the square root of 1 percent of the population of the country. To protect the population of the entire Middle East region, approximately 1,717 soldiers would be needed.

As part of its responsibility to protect the nation, the military is obligated to thoroughly examine scientifically proven methods for preventing war and terrorism. With the IDT approach, all that is necessary is to provide the proper training for groups of military personnel – or indeed, any sizable group within the nation. Any military has the opportunity today through IDT to create national security, invincibility, and peace. But the time to act is now.

Protecting Armenia From Both Internal and External Threats

If Armenia chooses decisively, it can establish order in the nation though a science-based strategy that will protect it from both internal and external threats. That strategy is “Invincible Defense Technology” (IDT). It assures invincibility, peace, and economic progress to the nation and the military that employ it.

Invincible Defense Technology (IDT), a Proven, State-of-the-Art, Non-Violent Military Solution

The IDT approach to national defense has been field-tested in numerous world battlegrounds. The results are rapid reduction of individual, societal and national stress and elimination of violence and conflict.

IDT is validated by 23 peer-reviewed studies carried out in developed and developing nations. Its effect on international conflict has been published in the Journal of Offender Rehabilitation. When large assemblies of IDT experts gathered during the years 1983 – 1985, international hostilities decreased 32%, terrorism-related casualties decreased 72%, and violence was reduced globally.

IDT – A Unique Approach to Modern Warfare

IDT is totally unlike any other defense technology because it does not use violence in an attempt to quell violence. It is totally civilized in approach, worthy of nations that abhor violence as a means to power. IDT uniquely deals with the root cause of violence – the built-up stress in individual and national life. High levels of collective stress are the underlying cause of war, violence, crime and terrorism. When the IDT methodology is applied, stress levels throughout the population are rapidly reduced.

In an environment of lowered stress even staunch adversaries find ways to cooperate and overcome long-standing differences.

IDT Reduces Societal Stress

IDT uniquely neutralizes the underlying power base of contending groups – the accumulation over decades of stress, frustration and civil dissatisfaction. By eliminating the root cause of insurgency, violent outbreaks are pre-empted and prevented.

IDT is effective – it gets to the heart of the matter. Terrorism thrives in nations in which decades or even centuries of under-employment, poverty, and hunger have created a huge societal weight of stress, frustration and endemic unhappiness. Profound social despair and anger find expression in acts of terrorism, civil unrest, societal violence, and a further downward spiral of economic degradation.

Military IDT Prevention Wing

A specially trained military unit, an “IDT Prevention Wing of the Military,” can be established to systematically and continuously reduce stress in national collective consciousness. IDT can be introduced into other governmental agencies, such as police forces, training academies, and defense offices. The combined effect of these groups will propel the nation in a new and positive direction. As stress and frustration ease, the population becomes capable of finding orderly, constructive solutions to long-term problems that had kept the nation always out-of-balance.

IDT Promotes Economic Growth and Stability

Past experience with IDT in other war-torn nations demonstrated increases in economic incentive and growth. Entrepreneurship and individual creativity increased. With increased civic calm, people’s aspirations were raised and a more productive and balanced society emerged. Such a society abhors violence as a means for change or as an expression of discontent. With genuine economic and social progress the ground for terrorism is eliminated. What is more fascinating, this change takes place within a few days or weeks after IDT is introduced. The changes are measurable from such statistics as crime rates, accidents, hospital admissions, infant mortality, etc.

Rapid Transformation Through IDT

The daily routine for the IDT military personnel includes practice of the Transcendental Meditation® technique and the advanced TM-Sidhi program. This is a societal coherence-creating military unit. The unit engages these peacekeeping programs twice a day, seven days a week, preferably in a secure location near the targeted population.

Such coherence-creating groups have already achieved positive benefits in several countries. Modern statistical methods used in the validating research show a low probability of any explanation other than a causal influence of the IDT technology.

The IDT approach has been used during wartime resulting in the reduction of fighting, a decreased number of deaths and casualties, and an improvement in progress toward resolving the conflict peacefully. The war in Lebanon in 1983 was dramatically impacted in a peaceful way by an IDT Intervention Group. A thoroughly documented study of this phenomenon was published in the Journal of Conflict Resolution, and summaries of follow-up studies were published in the Journal of Social Behavior and Personality and the Journal of Scientific Exploration.

Summary

IDT works by unfolding the full capabilities of the human brain, the most powerful natural resource possessed by every nation on earth. Invincible Defense Technology supersedes all other known defense technologies (which are based on electronic, chemical, and/or nuclear forces). History has repeatedly demonstrated that violent, outmoded, fear-based means of “national defense” are in fact self-destructive for any nation, and for the human race as a whole. Military might can be maintained, in the short term, as IDT technology is being introduced to peace-keeping forces. Ultimately, however, violent means for maintaining order will be replaced with IDT. It is simply a matter of efficiency and cost-effectiveness in achieving a stated goal – an orderly, healthy and prosperous nation.

Bottom Line – Military Operation Successful – Objective Achieved

The military that deploys this powerful, non-violent, human-resource-based technology efficiently and effectively achieves its objective: it disallows negative trends; it prevents enemies from arising. No enmity, internally and internationally means, quite simply, no war, no terrorism, no insurgency, no strikes, no fear – a population with hope substantiated by continuous progress in every area of life.

The Time for Action is Now

IDT is the twenty-first century’s leading-edge defense system. If Armenia establishes IDT Prevention Wings of the Military, they will ease high tensions, reverse mistrust, crush hatred, create stability and permanently prevent war and terrorism. Extensive scientific research objectively says, “Yes, the system works.” It is already utilized elsewhere. Why not in Armenia? There is nothing to lose and everything to gain. A new bright future for Armenia beckons. What remains is…open the door and step through to national transformation!
